Out of the starting gate

July 23rd, 2008

Pheww…what a month. Here at Slingpage things have been busy. On the publicity front, fist bumps to those many blogs and media outlets who sharpened their #2 pencils and gave us a mention. For instance link love came from About.com, Internet News, Yahoo News/PC World and many, many more. Startup Meme won the door prize for favorite headline: Slingpage = Twitter + StumbleUpon + Bookmarking. Pretty cool.

At Slingpage, we already make the Web instantly sharable, now we’ve set out to empower you to discover the best stuff on the Web. Think of us as a resource to make you look cool, hip and in the know. For example, check out some of our featured Slingcasts.

Winelibrary TV

Woot
Everybody’s favorite online store brings you cool stuff cheap.

Wacky Videos Baby!

You can find even more great Slingcasts here. Think you got something to share? Start your own today! Just let us know and maybe we’ll promote it to all those good looking, summer tanned slingers out there.

If you think all this sounds like fun, be glad you’re not one of our developers. Once a day we throw them some raw meat for fuel and protein. The rest of the day they are heads down creating the next big thing for Slingpage. More on all that soon.

Hello, World!

June 10th, 2008

After months of tireless development and uncountable low-sodium V8’s, we’ve taken down our private beta “wall”, and opened our public beta to the world. Hello, World!

Hats off to all the insightful early-adopters who provided us with great feedback during our private beta period — we listened with eager ears, and many of your suggestions found their way into our public beta release. Don’t stop now: Your feedback and enthusiasm are our most important guide to making Slingpage awesome.

Look for some cool new features in the coming weeks, including Slingcast comments, Firefox support, and the much-requested Feedback Sticky.

We’re psyched to finally make Slingpage available to everyone, and we’re more psyched to have you here. Onward and upward!

PopSignal

May 16th, 2008

This isn’t just the Blog of A Thousand Thank-You’s, but again we’ve got to show our appreciation to all the cool, smart people we met at last night’s PopSignal event in Boston, and also to the guys who run the show. PopSignal is a real winner; it was a who’s-who of the Boston tech community, and couldn’t have gone more swimmingly or successfully. There were no fistfights, and much merrymaking.

We had Mario Kart going on the Wii, and we handed out stylish Slingpage t-shirts, which hundreds of people will now proudly wear while mowing the lawn, painting the bike shed, and spreading the Slingpage word. We heard a lot of good stories, and spun a pretty good one ourselves.

Hello and thanks to everyone we met, and who got hip to what instant web-sharing looks like with Slingpage. You guys are great.

TechCrunch

May 16th, 2008

Wow. As we hope you saw, Slingpage just got a great writeup on TechCrunch, and we’ve received a tremendous response. TechCrunch readers scooped up our 500 beta invites in a heartbeat, and you’ve all given us invaluable feedback. We can’t thank you enough. A thousand thanks!

Of all the great feedback we got, one message was loud and clear: Support Firefox. We hear you. We’re all Friends of the ‘Fox here at Slingpage, and our Firefox browser extension is in development as we speak. You’ll have it just as fast as our nimble fingers can code.

Stay tuned! And thanks again TechCrunch, and have fun, everybody.
